Pitch Bend and MIDI CC Lanes
Sonic Vein Studio supports curve editing in pitch bend and MIDI CC controller lanes. Add the corresponding lanes in the Piano Roll, then draw and adjust controller data to edit pitch changes and other MIDI performance parameters.
1. Overview
Sonic Vein Studio supports curve editing in pitch bend and MIDI CC controller lanes. Add the corresponding lanes in the Piano Roll, then draw and adjust controller data to edit pitch changes and other MIDI performance parameters.
MIDI CC (Continuous Controller) records and edits control information in MIDI performances. It can control dynamics, timbre modulation, and other parameters. When a virtual instrument maps CCs to the relevant functions, they can also switch articulations or adjust instrument-specific performance parameters.
MIDI CC events are independent of note events and can be edited separately in their controller lanes.
Note: MIDI CC is not itself an articulation. CC values can switch articulations or adjust related parameters only when the virtual instrument maps the specified CC to those functions.
2. Add pitch bend and MIDI CC lanes
Click the + button at the lower left of the velocity lane in the Piano Roll to add a controller lane.
The following lane types are available:
Pitch Bend: edits pitch changes during a performance.
Program Change: adds MIDI program change events.
Channel Pressure: edits pressure data for an entire MIDI channel.
Polyphonic Pressure: edits pressure data for individual notes.
MIDI CC (Continuous Controller): adds a lane for a specific continuous controller to edit its data.
3. Select a MIDI CC controller
When adding a MIDI CC lane, choose from the list of common controllers, or select All Controllers at the end of the list to browse and choose the MIDI CC you need.
The following common controllers are available as quick choices:
Controller | English name | Display name |
|---|---|---|
CC1 | Modulation Wheel (MSB) | Modulation Wheel (MSB) |
CC2 | Breath Controller (MSB) | Breath Controller (MSB) |
CC4 | Foot Controller (MSB) | Foot Controller (MSB) |
CC7 | Channel Volume (MSB) | Channel Volume (MSB) |
CC8 | Balance (MSB) | Balance (MSB) |
CC10 | Pan (MSB) | Pan (MSB) |
CC11 | Expression (MSB) | Expression (MSB) |
CC64 | Hold Pedal | Hold Pedal |
To use another controller, select All Controllers at the end of the list, then browse the complete list and choose a controller.
4. Edit controller curves
After adding a controller lane, edit its control data to change parameters over the course of a performance.
Pitch bend lanes edit pitch changes. MIDI CC lanes control MIDI parameters according to the selected controller's function. The result depends on the receiving virtual instrument and its parameter mappings.
