1. Create a clip

To create a clip with the Pencil tool:

  1. Select the Pencil tool.

  2. Move the pointer to the desired start position in the Clip lane.

  3. Hold the left mouse button and drag to the desired end position.

  4. Release the mouse button to create the clip.

The drag determines the new clip's start and end positions. Once it is created, you can edit its MIDI notes on the corresponding note canvas.

2. Basic clip operations

Clips support the following basic editing operations:

  • Select: selects the target clip for further editing.

  • Move: changes the clip's position on the timeline.

  • Resize: trims the clip's start or end position by dragging its left or right edge.

  • Delete: deletes the selected clip.

  • Copy and paste: copies a clip and pastes it at the target position.

All these operations support undo and redo. The minimum clip length is one valid grid step.
